Holiday Recipes from the Manor Tool Family

Manor Tool & Manufacturing Company has been a family owned and operated business since we were founded by Lee Simeone in 1959.

At Manor, Lee always sought to treat his employees well, with dedication and kindness — with a sense of family. Though he has passed, Lee’s legacy remains strong at Manor Tool. Today, his son Tom and his son-in-law Ken Galeno foster the same sense of family.

Family is important at Manor Tool, and we know that it is important to you too. This year, we want you to enjoy our gift to you, the Manor Tool Holiday Cookbook.

This cookbook is a collection of recipes contributed by our team members including appetizers, side dishes, main courses, desserts and more. Below you will find two recipes from our cookbook, we hope you enjoy!

Brandied Chicken Breasts

A savory and warm main dish that perfectly suits the holiday season. Try this recipe from Ruth Anzaldo:

4 chicken

6 tablespoons sweet butter

1/2 c. dry sherry

2 c. cream

4 egg yolks

shredded Swiss cheese

fine bread crumbs

salt, pepper and marjoram, to season

nutmeg, to season

brandy

Skin, bone and divide  4 chicken breasts into halves. Rub with brandy and let them stand for about 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and marjoram. Heat to the point of fragrance, 6 tablespoons of sweet butter (do not substitute).

Sauté the chicken over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes on each side. Remove to a heated, ovenproof platter to keep warm. To the remaining butter in the pan, add 1/2 cup dry sherry and simmer over low heat until the liquid is reduced by 1/2.

Add stirring constantly, 2 cups cream beaten with 4 egg yolks. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Stir and cook until slightly thickened. Pour the sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle with shredded Swiss cheese mixed with equal parts of fine bread crumbs. Glaze under the broiler and serve.

Deluxe Sugar Cookies

A sweet treat to place on your table for the holidays, contributed by Manor Tool’s Dan Kiraly. Make these sugar cookies a new tradition for your family:

1 c. margarine                                                               1/2 tsp. almond extract

1/2 c. powdered sugar                                                  2 1/2 c. flour

1 egg                                                                            1 tsp. soda

1 tsp. vanilla                                                                 1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream together margarine and sugar.  Add and mix in eggs, vanilla and almond extract. Blend in flour, soda, and cream of tartar. Cover and chill for 2 to 3 hours.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Divide dough in 1/2 and roll each half 3/16 in. thick on a lightly floured cloth or board. Cut into desired shapes and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Decorate then bake for 7 to 8 minutes or until light brown on edges. Cool on a cooling rack.
